This basic course in liability and confidentiality explores the ethical responsibilities of serving as a chaplain and a confidant in a police service and describes the limits to confidentiality within that role. By the end of this unit, learners will: 1. Interpret and describe concepts from the ethics course as it corresponds to liability and confidentiality issues. 2. Explain the fundamentals of liability and confidentiality and its implications/applications in relation to the role of the police chaplain. 3. Identify the general code of conduct. 4. Demonstrate the ability to be conversant and comfortable with the terms of liability and confidentiality. 5. Describe how to protect yourself and others, ensuring safety, security, and application of principles.
